Featured Replies

help  ive currently got a vrs with the apr stage 2 and its got me 225bhp and 27lbs torque, im looking for abit more and spotted the apr k04 kit that says its about 245 and 275lbs, im completly stuck as i cant find any info on it anywhere :(

ive been told its a hybrid but have no idea of this is the same as the k04-001 aet use and sell, ive also been told it will be no different than what i have and the gains are not worth it :( id go for more but ive heard that if you change the injectors the mpg reading and range reading are then out :(

help help help :(

anyone:eek:

if you change the turbo you'll another remap as the airflow will be completely different.

turbo dynamics sell a K04 hybrid that fits the K03 manifold/downpipe thats good for 300bhp and costs 1k+vat.

but that will need bigger injectors and a remap like any other turbo change.

APR do say they have a map for it thats available but ive heard so many stories and people saying 20 bhp and 30lbs of torque is not worth it? huh ?

peak figures don't mean squat though, my mazda 323 is a 1.6t with 150bhp as standard but doesn't make peak torque untill 5500rpm where as my octavia 4x4 as standard was also only 150bhp and made pretty much the same peak torque figure but it had that peak torque from something like 1500-5500rpm so low down its far faster as it low rpm's its making over 3x the torque.

what would you make of the whole k04 kit then? im just confused? the rolling road i had showed the set up i got now hits peek just over 3 until 5 then starts to tail , i have no idea wot the k04 kits do? jbs do a kit too and say it stay more at the top end but drive like the k03 at the start and they offer 3 options all based on the same turbo anything upto 300 ? eeek but that involves injectors agian which throw those reading out ?

just dont want to throw my fuel reading all over the shop lol or do i?

why are you so worried about the mpg display? it doesn't actually affect anything.

lol it just nice to have everything working after my experience with my mk2 20v conversion i had done of which everything wasnt lol or if it did it didnt stay  grrr just wana be carful not to have someone wreck my octy,

id love to go down the garett paths but its more than i can every really spend this time round, ive already got the miltek and forge front mount so things like the jbs thing arnt to bad, aslong as ive got some reliabilty i supose that the main thing, mike @jbs said that on smaller turbo upgrades the reading arnt out to much anyway , just worrying i supose :( the past bit me hard and ate every bit of saving i had , it sucked :( "gutted"

Your MPG reading will still be as true as it ever was, although it may well go down..lol.

The K03/K04 hybrid fits exactly as the K03 does so you can keep your downpipe and intercooler pipework etc.

its just a shame i have no way of telling what the difference will be lol buying the car was easy lol test drives :) the turbo upgrade mean i just gotta hand over 2 to 3 k and hope its a good idea and the extra 20bp and 30 lbs come sin nice

Pretty true, it is a gamble.

Sounds like your not convinced so spend some money on other areas to make it quicker. i'e better brakes, suspension etc.

ive already got a set of KWs and the brembos are on the list:) or simon at performance driven has told me about some stop techs but eek lol they aint cheap

StopTech : Balanced Brake Upgrades

id like abit more power but its just after a bad .... very bad conversion on my mk2 golf i have to be curious lol and carfull, cant have my octy ruined

you have to be carefull with any power upgrade and even going to a well known and trusted tuner doesn't always pay off.

you need to find someone you can trust and take the gamble then hope it doesn't come back to bite you.

very bad conversion on my mk2 golf

Thats why i'm doing mine myself.

simon at performance driven in tauntotn has bee a legend and a really honest guy so far and takes care, but his options are only the apr range, my other option was jbs , they seem to be a reputable company ?

I'm sure they have many happy customers and seem to have a lot of products in thier range. Thing is with tuning compaines even the same with dealers you get good and bad experiances.
