Like the cat who ate cheese, I'm waiting with baited breath

Hi everyone, my name's Richard, I live in Leicester, and I'll be picking up my new (blue) Octavia Estate Elegance 1.9TDI in June. I'd have rather had the Ambiente with options at 0%APR, but that would have put it past the end of the financing deal. (Don't you just love salesmen? icon_wink.gif )

I'll be trading in my '97 Golf Estate 1.9TDI, and sad to see it go. It has been a great car for ten years, but now it is starting to cost more money than it's worth. The engine is still just about perfect; I don't remember any work being done on it in that time except that the V belt was changed in the last service.

My first inclination was for a new Golf Estate, (the Blue Motion,) but Golf Estates seem to be mythical at the moment. Theoretically they have been out for months, but there are no new ones to be seen, and there is nothing on the second hand market. I don't care about the badge anyway; I'll only get a little gentle ribbing from friends and the added features make up for that. The Blue Motion Estate is band C tax, (VW must be kicking themselves for not dropping another 2g/km CO2,) the same as the Octavia.

I'm looking forward to driving my first new car out of the dealership.

My day job is producing the control systems for engine testbeds.
