Is Your AUB (1.4 16v) Reliable?

Featured Replies

Hi, just jumped in this forum. Please tell me what the crankcace vent system is all about, my wife's Fabia 16V consumes too much oil, about half a litre per 1000 km. It works just fine (AUB engine), revs nice but I must be aware of lack of oil all the time since dipstick job seems to be too difficult for her. The car has 120 kkm on gauge.

Af far as I understand there may be a clogged hose or something similar but where? Is there a filter or something which could be taken away.

Please reply.

Mine hasn't been very reliable :/

What's the difference between the AUB and the BBZ engines - my 2003 '53 has the BBZ 1.4 16v and seems to be pretty good, although at idle it's a noisy beast and it's pretty sensitive to how you treat it and what you fill it with...

My mates have said if ive had this much trouble with VW I should forget them altogether and go back to Vauxhall. My 1st car was a Mk3 Astra 1.4, N reg and I didn't have half the problems that my Polo has. My dad had it before me with 8k on the clock and didn't have a problem with it. I got rid of it at 120k wanting something newer, more solid and reliable. How wrong I was :(

I bought the car before becoming a member here. If id have just searched for the engine code id have never bought it.

I have done just that, just got rid of mine as I was fed up with bad response from the throttle and numerouse stupid fault codes being thrown up, very irratic idling on tick over. The very bad design of doors letting in water and other design faults. Put me off Skoda's for ever

Gone back to 'A Proper Car' A Vauxhall Astra
