3com Superstack HD vs FD

Featured Replies

Anyone ever came across a situtation were by degrading from 100Mbit full duplex to 100MBit half duplex increases network speed?

Without going into much detail at 100MB FD I get 10MBit/sec. With 100MB HD I get 60MB/sec

That usually happens when one end of the connection is set to half duplex and the other is at full or auto.

Just double check that both ends are set to auto or forced to run at 100full

Should of added. Both ends set to Auto. Even when both ends are set to FD I get a slow speed. :thumbdwn:

Most odd.....

Is this a switch to PC connection?

Have you checked cabling for damage and tried different patch leads?

Try fixing both at 100-full. Auto negotiation can be a bit cranky sometimes.

Other than that, as Alex says, check the cabling.

server to workstation via 3com superstack swithes. If I told you the full layout their could be a millions reason why.

I was thinking cableing but if I disconnect the workstion from the 3com and connect ot a cheapo netgear switch (using the same cabling) the problem is fixed. Conly cable that is changed would be the main 3com uplink to another switch.

Look at the port stats on the superstack- reset them and leave for an hour. Then look for any errors.
