Interior door handle

Featured Replies

Hi

I am looking pretty uncool at present. When i need to get out of the drivers seat, i have to wind my window down and open the door from the outside as the inner handle just flaps.

Looking at the Haynes manaual, it's a 3 spanner job to take off the door trim. in fact when my rear window fell into the door about a year ago, it took Greenflag 2 hours to remove it!!!

I have spoken to several of my engineer friends who when they read the manual say "Hmmm or wouldn't touch it"!!

Any suggestions would be welcome.

I tried to get my door trim of to replace the electric wing mirror, i tried 3 times and couldnt get the trim off, apparntley there is one large retaining bolt behind the door handle, i just couldnt figure out how to get the cover of the handle!! You may have more luck, ps mine was a MK1 Octavia.

If it's like on the Fabia, the plastic trim in front of the handle can be removed with a flat-bladed screwdriver, and the bolts underneath that. You will need a Torx driver...

easy job door trim.

remove rubber bit thats inside the grab handle, ease off trim that house electric window switches n then remove all screws you can & cant see!

Should take no more than 15 minutes to remove trim!

Have a look here. Front door is very similar to the rear door.

It all becomes clear! I had tried to remove the door card from the passenger door but there seemed to be one more bolt in the middle - it was the one behind the handle - haynes manual doesn't mention the front passenger door.
