Changing Fuel Filter Quick help needed

Featured Replies

jacked up and loosened jubilee clip holding it but how do i get the connectors off as i dont want to snap them? do you just pull? or squeeze them?

on my TDi, there are 3 hoses to remove, iirc

1. Fuel from tank to filter (single)

2. Fuel to engine from filter (single)

3. Return to tank from engine via filter (keeps the filter full of fuel I guess) (double pipe, retained by metal clip)

Two have little bits your squeeze in, and the other had a metal pin to pull out, before lifting upwards. Remember to replace the o-rings otherwise it might leak some fuel.

Note: this is from memory, so it might be not 100% accurate....

Haynes says the connectors are quick-release and can be disconnected by squeezing the catch on each. It may be necessary first to release the hoses from the clips on the underside of the car to allow greater movement. PS - You should depressurise the fuel system first...

Pretty sure its a petrol he's asking about.

Push the sides in and push forwards before pulling back.

Not changed many tbh as they dont have a service interval. do yourself a favour though and bin the jubilee clip and replace with a large cable tie, the jubillee clips have been known to wear a hole in the filter.

I had a feeling it was probably petrol, but just on the off chance it was diesel :-)

I had some time to fill, waiting for the police to arrive to finger print my garage door....

Are you going to enlighten us further elsewhere on Briskoda? :rubchin:

cool they did need gentle squeeze to come off, i used the original jubilee to fix it back but may remove it and put zip tie soon as not happy with clamp as its very corroded.

Rich, plenty of cable ties at my house, pop round if you need one (Lime Crescent) by the school

cheers for the offer but should be ok for the moment, nearly phoned you though just to check about the connectors earlier but wasn't sure.

think you are right swith the air leak from that hoe as there's a definite hissing sound from that area and when i move pipe it changes.

hows the new job going?
