Where is cheapest for discs and pads?

Featured Replies

I'm looking for some uprated front discs and pads for my Y reg 2001 Octavia 1.8T Elegance but without spending a fortune if possible.

The car is getting revo mapped as soon as my supplier gets a new cable to connect to the car which should be within a week (finally happening after over a year of me meaning to get it done) so I need something decent so that the middle pedal matches the right one for performance!

I've been recommended (and think I've settled for any one of) Tarox, Pagid, Mintex or Ferrodo but I'm struggling to find somewhere that supplies all 4 so I can check prices.

I've had a total price of £271.09 delivered for Tarox Sport Japan Discs and Tarox Fast Road Pads from motorsportworld.co.uk. Is this a good price and if not where can you recommend to go?

Oh yeah and is it best to avoid mixing and matching if possible? Mintex pads and Tarox Discs for example.

Cheers guys.

no problems with mixing and matching as long as discs on each axle match and pads on each axle match, personally i would get standard discs and uprated pads.

what size brakes do you have btw? 312mm? maybe worth upgrading to the vrs setup at the same time.

Cannot really afford to upgrade to the VRS brakes. £500+ is the cheapest I could find for that.

They are 288mm discs.

You can get the setup for far less than £500. For example:

312mm Brake Set Up MK4 GTI TDI VW Golf Seat Fabia vRS on eBay, also Brake Components, Performance Tuning Parts, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 04-Jun-08 13:15:18 BST)

I would personally recommend going down this route. But to answer the original question, Motorsport World - Performance Car Parts would be a good 'one stop shop' to check out disc/pad prices. Good service and competitive pricing.

I'd also look at changing brake fluid at the same time. Opie Oils offer some good choices, plus they're a partner company on here.
