Stop the Lights!!

Featured Replies

Hi all,

You know the alarm that sounds when you have the lights left on and open the driver's door? Well mine doesn't. And consequently I have had two flat batteries in the past month which is annoying to say the least! Anyone got any experience with this & suggestions of where to start to remedy the problem?

Cheers,

Does the "Oi mush, you've not put your seatbelt on" or the "I want more fuel soon" alarm still sound properly?

as ken sais if theyre not working then it could just be the speaker not working properly

The low fuel alarm def works not sure about the no seatbelt one though. The lights left on alarm works 10% of the time (but not recently) so is probably a poor connection....

I'd agree then; probably a poor connection. I was wondering if the sounder had failed, or been disabled with a VAGCom.

It uses the switch in the door for the interior light, does that go on/off as you open/close your door. (switch in correct position for this to work),

The light works as expected when opening/closing the drivers door so its not the switch. Another electrial fault (probably unrelated) is that sometimes (say 1/3 of the time), when using the central locking on the drivers door only the drivers door locks as opposed to all the locks.....

When you say "using the central locking", is that using the key or the plip?

Isnt the little icon and the lit dashboard a bit of a giveaway?

Of do you not check the lights from outside after leaving the car?

I mean when using the key as opposed to the fob.

When its lashing rain and you just want to run inside its easy enough to leave the parks on......it happens!

Ahh I havent had that yet. You dont worry about rain if you have a gore-tex jacket.

My annoying beep also sounds if I have rear fog switch in and open the door. That I only found out last year after I opened the door and heard the beep.

**the beep sounds when the lights are off but rear fog switch is pressed in.
