Leaking passenger door

Featured Replies

i had an almigfhty problem with the infamous leaking passenger door again yesterday. after pushing the door seals which ithink is half the problem i drove off to find it was still leaking from top and bottom. ive think ive now solved it by slamming the door shut. maybe this has been the problem all the long.

I vacuumed my car last week only to find the front passenger footwell wet, i cant quite tell exactly where its coming from, there was water sat in the bottom of the seal which piddled out when i flicked it back but the rest of the seal appeared dry, i hope the electrics arent soaked through. Im going to get it booked in when i can and get them to look at my creaking suspension whilst its there!!

The Octy II has the same carrier design as the fabia Mk I which needs sealing with sealant if it leaks.

If i had to suggest something it would be that as I had that problem and got all 4 doors sealed. Other thing is to put some silicon grease on the door seals too to keep them soft, flexible and also quiet :D

I know this might sound a bit silly but wouldn't drilling extra drainage holes on the doors of the Octy help solve the problem?I made this suggestion to the body-shop and without any justification they were totally against it.What do you guys think?

Because you end up with metal exposed that isn't galvanised and is pained probably only roughly in a part that is exposed to lots of water. This will likley mean lots of rust.

I'm sure that there would be no problem if the area were properly rust-proofed.

The rust proofing you add after market and subsequent paint job wouldn't IMHO protect as well as the factory galvanising of the panels followed by paint.

If you really want the extra holes you can always take it to a body shop and ask them to do it, but IMHO proper sealing should do the job just fine.
