Throttle Body wont re-align, new throttle body?

Featured Replies

Just got back from a visit to APS and they reckon the Throttle body wont re align and maybe causing my 17705 fault. anyone any ideas? doesn't seem to be a cheap part to replace unfortunately.

anyone know if there's anything else to check?

No it is not cheap :thumbdwn:

If you try to re-align to quickly/not in order it won't work?

***edit*** you did not try it APS did so I assume they know what they are doing?

Only other option is scrappy or if you can borrow another from a mate to try it?

they should know what they are doing, and they do not use VAG COM they use the VAG dealer setup. think ill wait a while and save up til i can afford to sort it out properly.

what about getting it recon'd?

there must be a company out there that will rebuild them?

its just a motor and a flap surely....

what about giving it a proper good clean. inside and out. and cleaning the contacts.

just trying to think of how to repair it, since its such an expensive item.

think ill be looking into picking up a proper vag com cable so i can re align myself and then ill clean it up properly as said with some alcohol wipes over the connectors and butterfly etc.

Give it a go, sometimes works. They are sealed and you cant really open them up. Your local to me, I may well have one we could try on your car to see if it makes a difference.

17705 is quite an open ended fault. APS know what they are doing so would have checked all your vacuum pipes.
