Finally made the jump from my Fabia to an Octavia vRS (Silver, 53 plate) and need some help on what parts to get and where from.

Can I get a Cambelt kit at my local stealers? Is it worth the extra cost over a third party?

Also what water pump do I need?

Finally, and probably more unusually, I need a new parcel shelf as the one currently in it has some 6x9's attached which I don't really want. Should I be looking at breakers or can they be had for a reasonable price new?

*Disclaimer* Before someone jumps in with an "OMFG Use teh search!!!111" type comment, I have, and as with all things that have been discussed in this depth there are too many conflicting posts to trawl through!

1. Yes, cambelt kit, but you also need a damper. I'd only fit genuine.

2. Genuine water pump is plastic, non gen can be metal, your call.

3. Not sure on price new, we have a Skoda supplier on here.

1) I'd probably pay that little bit extra for genuine and have on all old cars.

2) Never had a problem but plastic can break up and if it fails a metal one can seize and strip the belt so your call.

3) Breakers I would have thought, plenty of them out there with Octy VRSes in them

Is it correct to assume the vRS parcel shelf is the same as the ones in all other Oct hatchbacks?

Wouldn't mind a link to a correct metal waterpump if anybody would be so kind!

They were around £63 new a couple of years ago. I would try a breakers but view first to make sure it is clean. And yes, its the same one in all the Hatchback variants.

Maybe a different colour for different interior trims perhaps?

You can get a metal Impeller on a genuine pump....

But its your call, we havent had any plaggy ones fail on us

Picked the car up this morning. Got a metal waterpump ordered.

I now need to get a cambelt kit from Skoda. Does anybody know if this will include everything I need, or whether I'll need some other bits too? (Edit: Been reading about a tensioner, is this part of the kit or should I ask for it separately?)

I've just got to source a parcelshelf now!
