Theres a hole in my Octy :(

Featured Replies

Was getting the evening beverages out of the garage and noticed something a bit strange at the front end of my car. On closer inspection it was a bolt wedged in my now cracked grill.

The bolt, an innocent looking sheared / cut off M6 jobbie-

The damage, as you can see it left a ding in the bumper which I'm not too concerned about, the hole though is going to bug me big style :( -

How much am I looking at for a replacement grill surround and do they come pre-painted?

In all honesty I think its going to cost way too much to justify doing and I'm going to end up living with it :(

EDIT- Maybe I'm putting 2 and 2 together and getting 46 but I was behind a car on the dual carriageway today which had a blowout, maybe my grill caught the culprit?

thought about repairing it? bit of filler and spray yourself?

We got one of those in for a Fabia last week, it was around £20. The expense will come with getting it painted. At least the grille did its job and stopped the air con condensor getting the bolt through it, that would have cost alot of money.

I had thought about that but after lifting the bonnet and seeing how much it had cracked underneath I decided it might not be the best of ideas. Will bear it in mind though....

...unless I can pick one up for around £20 that is! Is that from a Skoda dealer? As for painting I wouldn't mind giving it a punt myself as its a small area and not on the actual car. If I mess it up I can always rub it back and get someone who knows what they are doing to do it.

I honestly thought I was looking at £100+ unpainted

As you say, it did its job so I can't really grumble.
