Review of Fabia 2 1.6

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Myself and Skodagirl1985 had to have the vRS service serviced yesterday, so we were give a 1.6 Fabia 2 in Black magic to drive around in.

Interior: Well put together, not sure if I like the white interior but quite good quality for the price point of the car. Seats were comfy and a nice trim

Sound quality of the Dance Radio is very decent - more than acceptable! I don't really like the dual gloveboxes - not as much space as my glovebox in the vRS But generally the interior is a strength of the car. The boot is a very good size.

Handling: Handling for driving around town was very good, quite a light power assisted steering makes for nice easy turns and easy driving, it was a shock to feel how light it was!

Engine: When we first picked the car up it felt gutless and I thought we were driving a 1.2 fabia but once you get the car up to about 40mph the car comes to life and feels like a quick car.

Economy: Never really got a chance to give it a wee blast so I can't comment on economy but it was doing about 30 to 32 in the town.

CONCLUSION: For me it's a marmite car you either like it or you don't at first I hated it but it's when you drive it you really like it and over the two hours I really grew to like it and it felt a part of me and did not want to hand the keys back, the service manager was telling us what you can do to the diesel version by stiicking in a tuning box. It's well put together and good value for money as chatham Skoda is doing good deals at the moment on the Fabia 2 up until July.

For me through I would fork out the extra dosh and get myself a roomster with it being the same car but with more space but well done Skoda for producing a cracking wee fabia.

I've got to take the vRS back on wednesday for some warrenty work so it would be good to see what Fabia I can drive then.

Davy

Interesting to hear other views...

Only problem with the Roomster is the fuel consumption is much worse than the Fabia - probably because of its large frontal area.
