First MOT

Featured Replies

Had the first MOT today done on the Fabia - it passed but with two advisory items - n/s and o/s front bonded suspension deteriorated but functional - not had chance to go underneath to have a look.

Is this something to do with corrosion on the suspension - tbh I'm not really suprised given that they salted the roads continually from October to end of March around here, even with weekly jet washes it's a continual battle!

Hi,

I had my first mot on saturday and passed with flying colours, mine needs to go back under warrenty on wednesday to get the bushes and wishbones sorted. Thats not good for a 3 year old car thats covered 37500 miles!

That sounds the like the console bushes that are perishing. Swap them for the cupra solid bushes as they will last a lot longer.

Similar story here, mine's going in for it's first MOT in a couple of days, and the dealers are going to repair my front bushes at the same time.

Mine's done 40,000 miles.

Reece 1, what Fabia do you have?

If it creaks over speedbumps, then it's definitely the bushes...

I've got to admiit quite glad it's under warrenty but I can't help thinking the speedbumps in my area have caused them to wear a bit more.

Same here, damn things.

just be warned, mine was under warrenty, and they refused to replace the console bushes (OP: that is what the advisory will be on your suspension, console bushes) its the main reason I no longer drive a skoda... the garages attitude sucked, and SUK's attitude sucked......

I hope you have a good dealer.....

Sharkrider - Think it's reeces's that got the advisory not mine but I was assured by the girl at chatham's in edinburgh that they would be covered under warrenty and said I should book the car in asap!

If you fancy making life easy for yourself I have a set of the consoles already fitted with Cupra bushes for sale. Just pop them on and your off, no faffing with special tools and labour costs. PM me if your interested.

now don't those bushes look a world better than the voided ones?

Mine actually OFFERED to do mine. I said thai i wanted to bring the car in for it's MOT and queried if it was worth the bushes being repaired/replaced at the time.

The guy asked me how long i had on my warranty, i said "One day!", he said, "Bring it in and we'll do the suspension under warranty".

It's going in on Thursday, hope they keep their word!
