Problem with Octavia II after drop

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

I have an Octavia II (known as the Laura in India). I recently dropped the car on Eibach Pro Kit and changed the tires from the stock 15 to 17 Pirelli P7s. I have also had the car remapped.

The car runs like a dream but the only problem I have is that it becomes bouncy at high speeds... The bounciness reduced with the fitment of the new tyres but it is still prevalent.

Can somebody please help me with this problem..

Thanks.

The reason for the bounciness (in my opinion) is that Skoda standard dampers are rubbish. Get some Koni FSDs and you're problems will disappear.

Koni FSds are mad expensive here... is there any other way>>

I would say there is no easy fix for this other than new / different dampers.

there's probably not enough rebound damping in the shocks to cope.

What engine do you have? What engine were the springs for?

Sounds like different dampers are definitely required; FSDs will be perfect thinking that your roads are as rubbish as ours are here in UK.

Don't expect your shocks to last very long with the springs you have on the car now.

Why?

I put Eibach -30mm springs on my Golf V5 on standard dampers over 5 years ago and it's still on the original dampers now. I know this as my brother still has the car.

The Eibach pro kit is the Skoda recommended kit for lowering the VRs aswell.

I put the Eibachs on seeing recommendations on the forum.. I am a dealer for skoda in India... Am gonna take a look at a shock tomorrow to see if the can be softened a bit... I have the service manuals and all for the Octavia so lets hope for the best... If I do find positive results, will post the method on the forum... Maybe it will be of help.

In the meantime, suggestions would be much appreciated>>

try shortening the bump stops a little, it should cut down on the bounciness!

put the FSDs today... Did a wonderful job..

For those on a low budget I found out that the Dampers soften after 10,000 Kms... which means that the bumpiness will decrease.. Maye it will be useful for someone
