Interior door trims...

Featured Replies

Dear colleagues

A very non-mechanical query, which Haynes seems understandably not to answer:

The insides of the doors of my L&K are decorated with a long piece of plastic in a shiny black-granite-style pattern. The shape is a kind of very elongated tear-drop.

I guess those of you who have seen them will know what I'm on about. In any case, I was wondering how they can be removed. I suspect that they are screwed or clipped on from behind, so that removal would mean dropping the door-card off.

The reason I'm interested in this is that I would very much prefer the plastic wood to the plastic granite, as the former fits my pipe-and-slippers driving-persona much better.

Thanks for your kind attention!

I think they are held on with clips and there may be a few screws. You will have to take the door cards off because the fasteners are on the back of the door.

Thanks very much!

Now all I have to do is work out whether it's worth the trouble, assuming I can get the bits from a scrap-yard.
