Fabia 1.4 8v self servicing

Hi my father is looking to service my Fabia for me and I said I'd check out what would be required.

Are there leads that need replacing (HT they used to be called on my old car)?

Also could someone please give me a list of other things that should be done?

If your car came with a service booklet, it should tell you EXACTLY what needs doing, and when. Failing that, the Haynes manual is OK for that sort of thing. It depends on what kind of service you're asking your dad to do. Is it a mileage-based oil change (i.e. you've done 10000 miles since the last one), or is it a full inspection service that should be done annually?

As I say, the service booklet should be your first port of call...

Actually spoke to my local garage about this today and was told that if I buy the necessary filters and fluids myself, all he'll charge me is £35.00. So I'll be putting my little baby in to be serviced in the next week or so.

Figure I'll need...

Air Filter

Oil Filter

Oil

Spark Plugs

Steering Fluid

Might even get my front break pads done at the same time.

Rear shoes look to have plenty left on them.

Anything else?

Oil filter every 10000 + sump plug washer

air filter every 40000, you may wish to do this every 20000

plugs every 40000

pollen filter every 20000

fuel filter every 40000

brake fluid change every 2 years

coolant change every 5 years

Power steering fluid shouldn't be necessary unless you are losing it.

Wheels off and a brake check every 20000 (not on official Skoda service)

Cheers almost forgot about the sump plug...

Sounds like the fuel filter would be a good idea too as I've just passed the 40k mark. (not bad for a car that's almost 9 years old)
