CD Changer Removal

Featured Replies

Hi all,

How the blases do you take the changer out of the Octy?????

I have done a few searches and can't find anything......I'm doing it now so would appreciate the usual brisk and detailed answer that we are used too!!

Cheers,

Using allen key type torx bits, undo the 4 screws on the side of the changer\cover and the changer will pull up and out. Pull the carpet back and undo the wiring at the multiplug and pull it out the hole in the carpet. The carrier for the changer is just held in by 3 (I think 13mm) nuts. Simple as that.

Dont forget to remove your CD's from the magazine 1st, you cant just reconnect the power to get them out.

By the way, if you are fitting another into the same space, why not just rip off one of the arms on the bracket and weld it into another position to fit the new changer, paint it grey or whatever colour your new changer is, cut a new slit in the carpet and refit the braket. That's what I did and it does looks bloody good if I do say so myself. Looks like I've got a floatng changer in the boot. Had to do it as the pioneer unit I bought was 3mm too wide...DOH!

I remodelled the mounting brackets to install my 10 disc blaupunkt changer, again I think it looks pretty good.

Cheers Guys,

I did find the torx screws once the light changed direction later on.

However........I have completed the change over to the new head....and didn't take my CDs out the changer. I'm going to regret asking this....Do I have to fully connect the Symphony head back in again to retrieve the CDs????

If you know someone else with the standard changer still fitted you could connect it to their HU.

Anyone with a VAG car and standard autochanger should do.
