Hi Guys

Wondering what a 2.5 tdi dsg elegance would do to the mpg compared to a 1.9tdi start/stopping motorway etc?

Cheers :)

I get on average around 48ish from an 04 reg 1.9 TDi 130 with manual box, running on variable servicing.

HTH

Mines a 1.9 TDi Auto, over the week as a cab it just hit's 30mpg overall, if it was just a daily drive I'd expect around 34mpg overall, she hit 47mpg on a long run, hth.

05 2.5 Elegance auto on variable.

400 mile run to the Midlands (95% motorway). Stuck it at 75 on cruise. Returned 51 mpg.

Mid 30s stop/start

Mixed driving for me in a 2.5 TDi 6 speed is about 40 to 44. Motorway at 70 to 80 is between 48 and 51. HTH.

(Incidentally, my 1.9 VRs Fabia is not that much better than this, gets 44 - 48 in mixed driving and upto about 52 on m/way).

Thanks to everybody for their replies, Looking at buying a 2.5 TDI with

DSG Gearbox But was told by one rep it would do 17 mpg round town, 30 on motorway and that would not be much good to me as I would be using it as a taxi.

Any thoughts on this guys and gals?

Cheers

Good luck in finding one, Skoda never made it with a DSG it should have a tiptronic in it, as for fuel in it, I'd hazzard a guess it'll be a mid 20 in town and about 40 on a run, hth.

Cheers was looking at one yesterday, thought it was dsg and was told that but it must have been tiptronic.

My 05 2.2 V6 does top 40's on a run and 30 ish round the town. I am very pleased with it in all ways.

Obviously I mean 2.5 not 2.2

Stick with the 130 four-pot, you can't go wrong :)

There's no comparison in the relative efficiencies of the PD engine and the old V6 with a Bosch VE pump.

Look at the CO2 figures in relation to their output and all is revealed. The V6 mated to a torque convertor box is an especially dire combination and has figures to match (it's no faster than a PD with a manual box).

VAG never made a North South version of the DSG box as all cars in this sector now have transverse engines.

rotodiesel.

Thanks Guys,

I think a classic 1.9tdi 115bhp might be a better option for me as I can buy one for 13500 brand new and surely it will be easier run than the v6 or 130?

Cheers

Try your luck at getting an Elegance out of a dealer, they will be stuck with some old stock that they need to shift, the clue is to ring around and ask who has what in stock, if it's in the compound they will be more likely to deal better, where if it's not and there's a 3 week wait for delivery then it makes you look eager and the dealer knows this.

Cardiff Skoda has a Black 115tdi Classic Superb for £12995 might haggle down to £12k

ring and ask for Shaun. Also they have an Elegance 2.0(140) in light metallic blue with Leather I think for £17995 and a Black TDIv6 auto 2007 LOW MILES at £14K. I was looking at getting a Black Superb but may have to wait a while now

Sorry just realised this has nothing to do with economy. Except I hear that the best power/comfort/mpg compromise is a 130 tdi.:o
