Humming rear wheel.....

Featured Replies

For a couple of months now I have had an intermittent humming sound from my nearside rear wheel, it is not effected by cornering, speed or any other kind of driving condition.

Since it started I have cleaned the rear disks up and replaced the pads and it is still doing it.

Could I be looking at a foooked hub bearing?

Cheers,

Steve:)

Bearing would normally show under load, you say intermittent? does it get worse when car gets warm (tyres)??

No, it is quite random.

I think I will replace the rear hubs as a matter of course anyway, it has done 62k and is on a 52 plate, so it wouldn't suprise me if it was.

Check for a small stone between the dust shield and the rear disc first. They make odd, and slightly random, noises.

If that fails, try teaching it the words! ;)
