HDi Powerstick

Featured Replies

Drove a car that had one of these fitted a while ago (HDi 90 in a Citroen Xantia) and it made a nice difference over standard - more revvy and driveable.

After much searching on t'internet I can't seem to find anyone who may sell such things. Does anyone know where I could pick on up?

Also, am I right in thinking it simply up's the pressure in the fuel rail?

The missus has a HDi 90 Pug 306 and it feels pretty flat hence me looking. :thumbdwn:

Cheers guys,

Chris.

You could try the derv doctor. When I spoke to them, they said they had stopped doing them, in favor of the digital tuning boxes, but they may be able to point you in the right direction.

I bought a second hand one and had it on my HDi 90. It made a massive difference. It pulled like a train and revved much more like a petrol engine.

As I understand it, they take the signal from the fuel rail pressure sensor and reduce it, so the ECU thinks the pressure is lower than it really is, and increases it.

I think the Derv doctor's reasoning for not stocking them anymore was that the digital boxes were able to adapt to driving conditions or something... All I know is that mine was much better than my previous HDi 90 which had been superchipped, and the guy I bought the stick off, preferred it to the digital box he replaced it with.

Maybe try eBay?

i had a 306 hdi that was remapped.

one of the best companies is SP tuning. there mobile too so they come to you and there cheap, (around 200quid IIRC)

Check them out, i think there on ebay.

Should bring the 306 hdi in line with a standard fabia vrs power wise ;)

Maybe give this guy a try... He's located near leeds and i'm currently in contact with him in regards to a cambelt and service on the other halfs 306 diesel.

He specialises in 306's and tuning them... so should be able to sort something out!

Quotes £120 for a remap on the 2.0 HDi with typical gain of 20bhp and 35lbft!

Brill, thanks for the advice guys. :)

Chris.

I take it you are aware that a 306 HDI 90 in the 306 doesn't have an intercooler so for a big power up you can just fit an I/C and it then has the same tuning potential as a 110 HDI.

So Fit an I/C and remap it properly (non generic) and you should be into a nice power area.

130bhp from a HDI 90 with just a remap sounds like you're asking for engine problems to me.

120 (ish) bhp from a 90 bhp hdi is achieved no problem.

Also i didnt mean it brought it in line with the 130bhp of the Fabia i ment on the road speed as the 306 is lighter

FMIC is not needed

And JAC is also good. His names Joe and his brother has developed the maps for the hdi ;)

Im a big poster on there, over 5,000 posts :D

Yeh thats how i found him... i had joined pug306.net ages ago then someone suggested him in another thread so i gave hime a ring!

He's certainly the cheapest!

Have been getting quotes for it doing coming in any where from £360-£580!!!

He's going to charge £250 or £300 if the rollers need changing!!

Not an FMIC, the 90bhp HDI has no IC at all.

I know you can tune the 90 to be of a similar level to a 110, maybe 120 if you use the right tune and have a good engine etc, but pushing it more will probably shorten component life of badly affect consumption.

The IC would be required (of any type, just get one off an written off 110 I would think) if you wanted to push it harder to counter any issues with heat build up.

That I find particularly entertaining as if you really pushed an XUDT 1.9 to 130 BHP you would, IMHO, be forever changing head gaskets as the 91bhp version used to pop them often enough. I don't see any mention of needing uprated head gaskets there so that would be quite a risk with the XUDT which has an IC.

I know...

120 is possible without IC. My 306 was remapped from around 30k miles and i had it upto 141k miles without a problem and it was running a 120 bhp map

Never had any heat build up issues either - it really is not needed

If in doubt get over to pug306.net and check other members experiences, a few have stuck hybrid turbo's on and fmic etc and only get 130 - 140bhp which in a 2-3k car seems pretty pointless to me
