Fabia Fault Codes

Featured Replies

2001 Fabia 1.4mpi 8v

Got a problem with A/C only works when engine is cold, read the threads and assumed EVAP temp sensor. Got a fault code reader and there are no engine fault codes. The only fault codes it came up with are:

SRS

P1746/P1750

ABS

65535 P0603

Can anyone explain what these are? i have the descriptions but dont understand what the problem is? Also what fault code should i expect to get if the evap temp sensor is not working?

Many thanks

The P1746 and P1750 codes relate to a power supply fault, quite likely to be old codes stored after a flat battery and could be ignored if the airbag light is not on. The 65535 is not nice

You could erase it and see if it comes back. Does the ABS work correctly, without any warning lights?

For the evaporator temperature sensor, you will have a fault code come up in the air conditioning section, usually address 08.

Cheers,

Yes i had a flat battery before so that must be the first fault codes, so i think its safe to erase them.

With the ABS fault code, it was a really wet day that the ABS light came on, next time i started the engine the light went out, so looks like the control module got wet. I think i will erase the code and see if it comes back, the ABS seems to work fine.

Strange that i dont get any air con fault codes though, i am sure the evap temp sensor has gone, i cant see anything else it could be. Air con works fine from cold engine, so cant need topping up, and compressor must work ok. But stops to work once the engine is warm. I will change the sensor anyway and see.

Thanks for your help

The sensor usually throws a fault code if it has gone. From the codes you list it looks like you are using a code reader other than VAG Com or the dealer VAS system. Is it capable of reading the air conditioning?

There are other possibilities:

The air conditioning is not working at all, due to low or no gas. Some of the early Fabias did leave the factory with an incorrectly coded engine control unit. The compressor or power supply could be faulty. The air conditioning could be working but the heater flap is playing up, providing warm air when the engine gets up to temperature.
