Hot start problem

Featured Replies

Hello there,

I'm Dave from County Durham. I've just joined & wanted to say hello to everyone here. I have a strange problem on my Octavia A5 1.9 PD TDi that has defeated my Skoda main agent & also my local independent.

On hot start, the car will turn over for several seconds without firing, eventually it will fire but will send quite a vibration through the car. It drives fine apart from an occasional 'cough' at around 1500-2000 revs. Accelerating slightly cures this straight away. It sounds like fueling to me but would appreciate any helpful comments or previous experiences of this either on here or I can be emailed at [email protected].

Thanks a lot.

Dave

I have exactly the problem you are describing on my 1.9 TDI, unfortunately I haven't found a solution to it yet either so this fact is no use to you! It does mean though that we have 2 people trying to resolve it :)

If I get anywhere on it I will put an update on here

Injection pump, is it a bosch?

If so go see a derv injection specialist and not just a garage as it was a common problem on the old felicia, so maybe it has returned for a new pump.

It is a small cheap part (Temp sensor i think) inside the pump fails and they can replace it as opposed to replace the whole thing as most places would do.

Faulty starter motor ive come across these symtoms twice and it cured both:)

Isn,t there a thread on here somewhere about a flap on this engine that sticks causing these symptons? I think the 2 litre TDi suffers also from this.
