waterleak...inside heate matrix housing

Featured Replies

ok, i thought i had fixed my waterleak but.............its not gone, i have fixed 1 part of the leak (originally drivers and passenger side) which was the bonnet release grommit on the driverside, but im still getting wet passenger bulkhead sound deadening weirdly at the bottom only. I have felt up all the way at the back around all the bulkhead i can get my hand to, and over all the cables etc on the passengerside and its def not wet there and draining down which is what you would assume. I decided to take the fan motor out today and look inside, on the left hand side where it gos up towards the pollen filter, i then felt inside and its all dry, including the inside of the pollen filter and also the seal between the inside of the scuttle and housing itself however, when you look into the right hand side where the heater matrix sits it is wet underneath. Now you might think its that thats leaking, the face of the matrix is wet too, however its clear clean water and not coolant, i drove the car before checking and the water wasnt warm unlike the engine which was still hot so dont see that it could be the matrix. Has anyone got any suggestions, are there any entry points into the 'plastic matrix/fan housing' that might be leaking, dont really see how, i know the cold and hot pipe go through the bulkhead but dont see how water could get into them. My scutle tray is clear and drains properly, i cleaned the drains through and even tested the scuttle by flooding it to see how it drained, no problem there either.....just cant see where its coming from. Scuttle cover off again tomorrow i think!

Normally its the pollen filter seal that gives a problem.

Water guide missing from the pollen filter?

AC drain blocked?

you mean the seal thats between the assembly and the underside of the scuttle tray? this is dry as is that side of the inside of the plastic housing down to the fan. I guess i should change the seal just to be sure though. Is it just a couple of nuts/bolts to take out in the scuttle area on the pollen filter housing holding the top part down?

whats the water guide?

does the ac drain start in that area then?

The heater matrix is next to the evaporator so yes its starts in there.

There should be a piece of plastic clipped in above the pollen filter to guide the water off the sctuttle and down the water drains.

hmmm so i wonder if its the evaporator, pipe could have come off perhaps....do you know where the pipe is exactly in relation to the matirx?

I have the pollen filter housing but dont seem to have anything that clips onto that, dont suppose you have a pic?

cheers for your help!
