I am thinking of retrofit a 1.8 Turbo into my girlfriends Fabia Combi 6Y:thumbup:

I know it is done before, but I could not find much info here on how to do the swap.

Does anyone have an ide on what kind of engine, gearbox and other parts I need to find? Will a Golf engine and gearbox fit? Engine mounts from a Polo GTI? Axels Polo GTI? Will there be any big/expensive problems? or is it more or less just to bolt on?

Not 100% what is needed, but id love to help if you live anywhere near?

Have fitted a 1.8vvc engine with a turbo strapped on to a metro... that was fun!!

polo gti stuff wont fit, it's totally different, you can get oe mounts from an ibiza to make it fit... but then fitting the engine is the easy bit, it's making it work which will cause you a headache

Assuming the Combi is a petrol jobbie. It's probably easier (but still not easy) to strap a turbo on the existing engine. Have a look at STS Squire Turbo Systems in the USA. Also look at this or last months Practical Performance Car mag.

If it's a diesel, erm... NO! It's easier and more appropriate to tune the diesel.

9N2 Polo GTi 1.8T would be a straight swap same as the Ibiza FR/Cupra, its exactly the same car.

A 9N2 Polo or a Seat Ibiza FR is hard to find. So I guess I have to take the engine and gearbox from a Golf or Octy, would that fit?

yeah true, for some reason i was thinking of the 6N2 gti model:)

A little while ago there was a complete front end on an Ibiza FR on ebay. Engine, box, loom everything inc shafts for £1300 so they do pop up from time to time.
