The new Citroen C5

Featured Replies

I sat in one of these at a local motorshow , and really liked it.

Very spacious , a lovely interior and it looks great inside and out.

The full length glass roof made a huge difference , and there should be some nice big discounts on the list prices.

Only trouble was the engines.

The three diesel options aren't very economical and don't compare well to the competition for fuel efficiency.

1.6HDI 110bhp - 0-60 in 14.0s - 49.6 mpg

2.0HDi 138bhp - 0-60 in 12.1s - 46.3 mpg

2.2HDi 173bhp - 0-60 in 10.4s - 42.8 mpg

With the recent rises in fuel cost , this is going to hurt their sales quite badly.

But it looks

Top Gear are right - all the good looking cars these days seem to be mainstream.

Yep , can't fault the looks at all.

Styling-wise I think it's every bit as good as BMWs or Audis costing twice the price

Now what does that remind me of? ;)

I like it a lot too but I question how quickly mainstream cars seem to date very rapidly, for example the Peugeot 407 and new Mondeo look past it already for me along with the new Laguna which is also looks dated!

You also need to think of the fact you will be able to buy one a year old with 6k on the clock for half the OTR price....

New Mondeo looks a lot less sated than the Octy IMHO, but tbh I still think it looks good.

I like the C5, especially with the fluid suspension, but how does the MPG compared to the Mondy and the Passat etc?

They were fairly poor too last I looked.

Dunno.

Skoda may have compared well in many respects , but you could never say they were better looking

I have to say I really do like the looks of the New C5, it does look a lot better than anything Ford has ever mustered together, and is a much better looker than a 3 Series. The only problem is whether it will hold its value come resale time due to the heavy discounts Citroen give on the cars when new.

Does look nice

I sat in one yesterday too at a motorshow. From the outside its very very nice. Even inside, the seats are comfy etc. However it all feels a bit plasticky and a bit fragile. I'm sure it will be a hit though with those looks!!

I guarantee it won't hold it's value at all well which is a bad idea if you wanted to buy new , but if you don't mind an 18 month old one it will be a steal

Every time I hear /see the ad for a C5 ,I think of a Jasper Carrot sketch -standing beside a C5 -"I really likethe C5,because it makes my Reliant look cool (He was talking about the Sinclair version )

And then I think of the film "BATTERIES NOT INCLUDED":)

But then - would you help an economy that refuses to buy from us ??

It looks great and (being a typical estate owner as described in lady E's thread recently) I wouldn't mind having one if only I could afford it.

But every morning, just before I drop SWMBO off outside her work, I pass a black and gleaming Citroën C6 - looks even nicer:

It is a mighty fine looking car , but I think the C5 estate just has the edge

Yeah the C5 and C6 are awesome looking cars , shame I cant afford one (well not for 3 years or so!)
