Service Question

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I did a quick search but I'm at work, and a bit stressed out. My question is this. I do 20,000 miles a year and have my car serviced in the middle of the year and at the end. According to my handbook, oil change is 15,000 km or 1 year, inspection service is 30,000 km or 1 year. I had an inspection in December last year so I assumed the service I am due now would be a bit cheaper because I would not be due another inspection service until December. Have just been told I have to have the full works which will cost £245, despite my protests. Who is right - me or the dealer?

The customers always right.

Take the car elsewhere if your not happy with your dealer.

Well my other local Skoda main dealer agrees with my point of view and quoted me £101 for an oil change service. I told them the whole service history of the car and they assured me I only needed the oil change service. Wonder how many people look at the book before they get their car serviced? Deary me...

It's typical of main dealer service nowadays if you ask me, they are only after your money and couldn't care less about your custom.

Thats a bit of a generalisation. I have always found my local dealer to be spot on.

Fair enough.

However, there are far more bad VAG dealers mentioned in the reviews section than there are good ones.

It's a shame really...

This is always the case with voluntary feedback and people use a site such as this as a forum for voicing this feedback. It's like going into a doctors surgery and being surprised the waiting room is full of ill people.

Well my local dealer ...

Griffin Mill - Pontypridd ... Awful reputation, dealt with them myself, would never put my car in there, simply buying parts is a lottery as they sold me the wrong bushes one time, even though they had my chassie number.

White Dove - Cardiff ... Again Awful reputation.

So I've no dealers in my locality that are competent, let alone good. Maybe I'm jaded, but the last time I put my car into a dealer it was a Vauxhall dealership (which is where I actually purchased the car) and the service there was and has been second to none. I'd recommend them all day long. It's just that I can get the same work done cheaper locally nowadays, or else I'd still be going there.
