Used Fabia Values.

Featured Replies

Having discussed diesel/petrol virtues, how about this. If 4x4 and big engined car values are falling like a stone (so they tell us) Are economical cars like the Fabia likely to INCREASE in value as a used buy? Assuming fuel prices continue to rise.

Not sure they'll rise, but the more the fuel prices, etc, do, the more my car pays for me to keep in (comparatively) lower running costs than other cars.

In the last 8/9 months the prices of the Fabia vRS has fallen by around £1000-1500

:(

During periods of high fuel prices the larger thirsty motors will drop in value and will be harder to sell. The smaller more economical cars (fuel, insurance & tax)will sell easier. I doubt if the values will rise. but it won't fall as fast as the larger motors.

Incidently It maybe my imagination but over the last few weeks there appears to be less traffic on the roads and those BMW & Mercs are hogging the inside lane at 70 MPH. Anybody less noticed this?

Mine's been worth "£0" on the open market for a long time. Best rate of depreciation ever. :D

You don't know someone called Welshy do you?

I think what you're referring to would be termed 'expected depreciation'. It's also too general a statement. vRSes of different ages will depreciate at different rates. Mine has not fallen in value by the amount you're quoting, for example. This is obviously based on what I bought it for, and what I could reasonably expect to sell for at this moment in time.

We should also bear in mind that the arrival of the mk2 will have pushed values of the mk1 down a bit. I was pricing up an 05 or 55 1.2 Ambiente for my Grandad the other day as was surprised how cheap some of them were in main dealers.

I think used Fabia prices are a lot more realistic now.

When I looked a couple of years ago, it made no sense to buy aything less than 18months old as they all offered very little saving against new.

There was a bubble for quite a while. Some may have benefitted from it, others may not.

But it has now burst.

Cars like my sisters 14yr old Micra are holding their value pretty fiercly in the used market :D

But economical small cars haven't really appreciated in value.

People are thinking twice before buying.

In my opinion, any old, small cars around the £1000 mark will struggle to ever be worth any less. For those of us with cars worth £5000 - £7000, we're still going to be hit hard in my opinion, especially considering people have less and less disposable income

They have dropped considerably, even looking at 05's with less mileage are still alot cheaper than when i was looking at 04 ones 8-9 months ago

I suppose if the Fabia prices fall more slowly as a result of fuel costs, this could be said to be an 'increase' in value?? as someone who has usually owned petrol cars in excess of 2.0 ltr. I am feeling a bit smug in my little Furby!!

If small cars like the fabia hold its value and large engined gas guzzlers second hand prices plummet

I will be a very happy chap

My boss has said i can have first offer on his R32 when he gets shut of it next year

at this rate i will be able to sell my vrs give him the cash for his golf and still have some spare cash:D:D

Nice one okeh, But it's probably not as daft as it sounds. There may be some real bargains to be had for those who can afford to run them. Anyone see Tiff Needel on TV the other night with the guy who had a Merc ML. He'd bought it used last year at £12,000 and was trying to sell at £10K. No takers. Tiff took him to a dealer who said it was worth only £6K but would only offer him £5K! The young guy and his wife were sick as they still owed £7100 on it.

I have been thinking along those lines, thats why i asked my boss if i could buy it off him when he wanted to part ex it.

For instance his previous cars have been a DB7 and a merc sL55 amg so when they have been replaced i knew that i couldnt afford to run or buy them off him

Now is an opportunity to get hold of a car that is normaly out of my price range and it will probably be a bit of a bind paying out the costs that come with that type of car

but

what the hell
