Brakes

Featured Replies

Local garage (VW) replaced pads all round and yesterday travelling along country roads was left with no pedal when rear caliper fell off! Day before was travelling down from Fort William so could have been so different. Anybody else had this problem

This shouldn't have happened at all....obviously. I would guess that they forgot to tighten the caliper bolts. I would have a very very big moan. All repairs should be paid for and recovery costs, but then there is the fact that they potentially risked yours and your family's lives. If they try brush it off with a free air freshner or something try trading standards or something similar.

The garage forgot to do a bolt up IMHO.

That could have been fatal, so I'd be asking for a moan and them to have a review of their practises. Could easily have killed somebody doing a full on emergency stop due to uneven braking at the rear.

The Garage should be named and shamed. That was a potentially fatal error IMHO.
