Rattling coming from gearstick in idle

Featured Replies

I've noticed a rattling coming from the gearstick in idling on my Furby VRS(Nearly 700 miles). It almost dissapears when you depress the clutch pedel or put the car in gear and improves when you hold the gearlever - should I bring it to the dealer? My Alhambra (with same lump) is totally silent and vibration free. I'm a bit hacked off that whilst checking this vibration, I removed the top battery cover to find the lower one cracked - something for the dealer to sort out - before you ask, I'd removed the Alhambra cover (the only way I had any chance of seeing the gearbox) and decided to compare batteries between the cars.

In addition I'm getting a vibration type squeel from the rear discs when moving forward slowly after breaking - I guess it's the pads rubbing and setting up a vibration - is this normal?

Mine used to do it but doesnt anymore, everything else rattles instead. Im not exactly happy with the build quality of my car, but its better than my now gone Y reg ibiza :(

mine also used to to it, it either doesn't anymore or I've got used to the sound. As for other things ratterling.......no......... mine is a sweet little thing! nearly 5k on it now and only just 2 months old, it's far better than the 'orrible old pug 206 I had *shudders*

as for the battery cover.......only way to find out is to ask :D.

Haven't had the brake thing only a weird noise in reverse (normally after it's been raining). If your worried about it ask your garage to check it out, at the end of the day it's you that has to feel happy driving it

Qhew, thought I was the only one with a rattling Furby Vrs :o

Has anyone taken theirs back to the dealers to try and get them fixed? Tried this when I had a Reno and they made them worse

yes mine did it too , but dealer replaced linkage, cables and anything else he could, now it is ok at last.

My stick did vibrate in neutral too -seems to have gone now.

There are still the odd rattles or two, but I think I'll sort them out. Already taken the doors to bits several times for that infectious ICE disease
