Rear speakers in a 2000 Fabia classic

Featured Replies

Hello, firstly I apologise if this is in the wrong place! I want to put some rear speakers in my new Fabia classic. With previous cars there have always been wires in the door panel for you to just connect up. However there doesn't appear to be any in the Fabia - took me a minute or two to actually figure out where the housings were, and then I pulled out the automatic catch for the fuel cap. Is adding in wires an easy enough job? Or does it involve removing all the trim and shredding knuckles on the bodywork?

Many thanks

Matt

Nope - is a real pain. Almost to the point of just getting a comfort spec equivalent car instead. Will involve tapping wiring right to the radio, and probably need a different headunit too, if you're running the classic trim MS radio. :)

Hi, I put in my sony CDX-GT310. However the memory is resetting on that when the ignition's turned off.

Is it possible to run the wires under the carpet to the central console, or is it going to have to go under the door sills?

If I wanted to do it (which I'm increasingly not!) is there a good guide available?

Cheers

you could always stick a pair of 6x9's in the parcel shelf? the wires and easily be hidden under the trim, just use a small screwdriver a flat head one to slip it under:) and then link the speaker wires to the brown ones i think...

Had a look at putting some speakers I had into the empty speaker grills either side of the parcel shelf. However the seat belt mechanism is in the way. Looks like I'll have to remove the trim there, attach the speakers, then reattach the trim. Not too bad really.

I'd rather not have parcel shelf speakers as quite often I need to take the shelf out

You'll want to swap over the switched and permanent live wires (yellow and red iirc).

Also, I'm willing to be corrected on this, but I don't think fabias had speakers in the rear doors - my comfort spec has the ones next to the parcel shelf. To get wires to these isn't too bad, just run them down behind the dash, and under the under-door trims, removing them first, then under the back seats and under the boot carpet and up the side wall carpet.

You're absolutely right on both counts. There are no speakers in the doors, just either side of the parcel shelf. Unfortunately the speakers I have are too big it seems. The mounting holes are the right distance apart but the plastic around the grill is too narrow. Very annoying!!!
