Found this little plastic thingy on the ground under the engine (1.6 litre AKL) Looks like some kind of snap-on lid and it's broken - either broken off a larger piece or a small part gone from this one.

Anyone able to indentify it? Is it vital?

Not sure about the plastic thing, but I believe the lower bit is the key (and key ring)

that's part of the plastic cover from the top of the engine i think, the bit that engages with the lifting backet to locate it in place

So it is! Thanks a lot , it's back in place (but will probably fall off again sooner or later since one of the "snaps" is missing). Will look for a replacement at my next visit to the scrappie.

Just wish that you've been a little quicker with your answer and spared me the removal of the engine cover just to find out that Tom was down the wrong track
