ECU light on !?!

Featured Replies

My ECU light has lit up and stayed on for the last couple of days 2001 Fabia 1.4 16V ) which my manual says could be an ECU fault or an exhaust issue, yet I have no noticable changes in the way the car performs, starts, sounds or runs... If I had to say anything I would say its a liitle flat accelerating in 1st or on a hill start, otherwise its seems to be running strong!!!

I have little experience diagnosing / fixing newer engined cars, Im a VW flat four man myself, is this a serious / common issue?:o

I'm afraid so. Find someone near you with VAG-COM (see the appropriate forum) and get the car scanned.

The 16v engine has a habit of tripping the CEL light, but a scan should give a clue what it is.

Not always serious with the EML on.

Where are you located, maybe a local VAGCOM owner could do you a favor ?

Take a look at the VAGCOM owners map
