Octy TDI-99 ventilation problem solved

Featured Replies

Hi there,

Just thought I´d share todays experience with the

malfunctioning ventilation system in my Octavia TDI from -99.

The specific problem was that the heater was set to max

regardless of the position of the heat knob in the car.

When this problem occured, I imagined tearing out the whole

dashboard from the car (as the cables from the knob were intact), so I´ve been ... let´s say a bit reluctant to looking

into it. Now that the summer sun is shining here in Sweden, my

motivation to look into it has increased gradually.

So... today I took the car to my garage and removed the

glove compartment and stuck my head under the dash. There

I saw a lever thing with a cable attached to it that seemed to have

jumped out of position. I pushed it into position, and now it works

again. It wasn´t even necessary to remove the glove compartment.

So... if the heat setting cannot be changed in your Octavia with

mechanical heat adjustment, this is the fix. No need to remove the dash.

Greets from Sweden!

Nice result
