New Chrome Grille Surround - how much?

Featured Replies

The chrome section of my grille has started to bobble, i.e. looks like the chrome coating is coming away from the plastic. How much would you expect a replacement part would be? Does the standard fabia part fit a VRS?

Cheers

Do what many ppl do on here and remove the chrome, and then spray the same colour as the car

bleach removes it btw

Yeah that is my plan now. Just bought a secondhand grille from a specialised Skoda scrap yard. However when trying to remove the chrome part, some of the clips snapped off. Its now completely useless. What a waste of £15 :( I'm a bit worried that this might happen with my current one when colour codeing. Anyone else had this problem?

As for the colour codeing. I've got a silver vrs, thinking of going either black or silver with the grille surround. Any thoughts?

Silver

Silver.

dont need to remove the chrome to colour code it..just doe need just need to key the chrome with some medium grade wet n dry.

Oh right, thought you had to take it off and soak in bleach to strip back to plastic? As the chrome has started to come away on mine, think I will have to do this anyway.

sraying is fine, or if your unlucy like me the paint cracks in one place after u put the thing on, been re-sprayed about 4 times and now the mesh has come loose...lol

you'd be better to take it back as much as you can or you'll end up with chrome stonechips like mine :D
