ABS Warning Light

Featured Replies

Hi,

Driving the other day in town and the ABS warning light came on for about 2mins before disappearing. Not reappeared since. Any ideas? Hoping a dodgy connection and not something more sinister!

Second issue is slighty less worrying. Bought the car 4months ago on what looked like nearly new tyres (Goodyears). Always check my tyre pressures at my local petrol station and inflate to recommended or slightly above. However the fronts always look very soft and seem to have a large contact patch. How reliable are the pumps and does anyone have any similar observations?

Cheers,

Dave

1) Probably nothing. Just hope it doesn't appear at the wrong moment during the MOT.

2) Get a proper gauge from a shop. It's only about a fiver for a pencil type, and the petrol station gauges:-

a) Don't have to be calibrated, and get a fair amount of abuse. Source being my mate who's a station manager for Esso.

B) Can't be used on properly cold tyres. An hour of 60mph driving can put your tyre pressures up by 4 or 5 PSI over cold.

The tyres always look flatter on the front due to the extra weight ie engine,

As for the light this is common on a lot of cars usually is fine and doesn't actually represent a problem. If the ligt doesn't go off itself turn the ignition off remove key wait a min and then start engine again all should then be fine.
