Fabia vRS hub nut what size pls???

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am replacing the front discs and pads on my 55 plate fab vRS. The discs annoyingly are secured with a securing screw as normal but also the hub nut. Cannot get the discs off without removing the hub nut! The nut is a 12 point one. I have borrowed and bought various large bi-hex sockets to try and remove it. I have tried from 30mm up to 34mm now and it is still not big enough!

I have just had a quick look on the net and have now ordered a 36mm bi hex socket. Don't know if that will fit until it arrives.

Can anyone confirm what size socket is required? Also is the bi hex going to fit the nut. It is a pale green colour and has 12 points as noted above. Can only assume it is for a bi hex unless I am barking up the wrong tree and need a special tool.

Any ideas or other peoples experience would be much appreciated as my car has been on axle stands for a week now and needs to be back on the road.

????????

You dont remove the hub nut to change a disc. just remove the torx screw and withdraw.

But as a note the hub nut is 36mm and doesnt get done up very tight.

Thanks. Looks like the disc doesn't have a hole in the centre on mine. Quite rusty too. Must be seperate pieces then. I will go and try with a dead blow or lump hammer. Seemed quite secure.

Thanks.

No problems.

I have replaced a fair few of them in my time, usually a good whack shows them whos boss.

Sorted and now discs and pads are done. Some theiving scroat has nicked one of my skoda centre caps though whilst it has been parked up! Never mind. Hopefully might find a cheap new set as the others were corroded anyway.

 Lucky they didn't nick the whole wheel! Worst I've had is a couple of plastic dustcaps have disappeared off mine overnight, but I've left tools and wheels outside whilst doing things and inside having food or whatever. Nice area I'm in I guess.

Centre caps can be had off Ebay for around £20. Watch out for copies from Hong Kong though - might not be up to the job. They don't cost a massive amount from Skoda to be honest. :)
