Fabia 1.4 16v mixture too lean

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I've just cleaned out my vgr pipe which was caked, now my engine light has stayed on this time with a fault stating my mixture is too lean!

My light was on prior to me cleaning the said pipe only for flow too high which I gather is due to the blocked pipe.

could this mean there is an air leak in the pipe? or some other fault with the egr valve?

Any ideas folks?

Cheers

Johnr

Could you give us the exact fault code? It is feasible that the EGR valve is stuck, it can be checked and given a bit of 'exercise' through the output test feature in 01 - engine.

Hi Fordfan,

Thanks for quick reply.

Just been out to the car for code, and this sounds wierd, but there are now no codes being reported despite engine warning light still on.

Here is sequence of events:

Saturday cleaned vgr pipe, cleared codes, all OK.

Later Saturday engine warning back on! checked codes, this time lean mixture as query here, left code.

Monday decided to check code and cleared it, later warning light back on.

Tuesday input details here.

Now I've cleared codes again, despite no codes being reported, warning light now out. Could it be the adaptation of the ecu adjusting the mixture over a period of time after clean out and now back to normal?

I'll monitor things and report back any more probs.

Post a complete scan please, we've seen enough cases like that by now but to get you a real answer it requires some more data from the car. Usually this thing is a software glitch in the ECU, multiple possible reasons for that though.

Hi Sebastian,

How do I post a complete scan?

I have the shareware version of VAG com.

Cheers

Then you can't post a complete scan, but you can still use...

Select > 01 - Engine > Fault Codes - 02 > Copy/Save Codes

...and the post the content here.
