Just out of interest....

I know the trip is unreliable - anyway nevertheless (mine is a newer model, and must have the labour.gov chip installed).

The computer said 72mpg on a long trip down "sarf", 100 miles (and back)

A nice easy run where I did between 60-70mph all the way

(it was an early jobby, knew I was in it for the distance so didn't want to see my costly tank disappear, driving very smooth and relaxed).

Usually I can get about 63mgish but this was just another level ! 72Mpg maxxed!!

The key seemed to be keeping the revs down in cruise, in sixth, getting into a fixed motion and not letting any tw*ts slow you down ! (trucker mode on)

Oh and yes, the other half thinks I'm old before my time. I think I was just looking after the wallet, as £50 to fill up was ridiculous.

What does everyone else get on trip? This seems to be a peculiarity and only possible over real long distance.

I do a medium short trip usually of 30-40 miles and its only possible to get the 63mpg but never this high.

Isn't it fun to be overtaking prius without even trying but still getting more mpg than it does on paper

I did a journey last month from London to north Essex, stayed around 56 to 60mph all the way and behind lorries... my average on the trip was 90mpg!!
