4x4+superb=bang

Featured Replies

hey peeps! Got hit from behind by a 4x4 today. Damaged the back bumper slightly scratched and scraped :(

I was stopped as there were parked cars on the other side of the road and there were people coming towards me on my side. The 4x4 was sitting on my bum, and all of a sudden BANG! He hit me, i went forwards..turns out someone hit him from behind!

Neck hurts a bit so going to docs tommorow. Car is going in on 11th as it is drivable. Nothing major, just paint I think.

Yay..:(

Glad you are ok - that's the main thing.

Doesnt sound like he is okay to me, sounds like a juicy expensive lawsuit to me, I would go and see Dr Nick Riveria and start practising with a wheel chair and saying 'ow' a lot.

Wrap a bandage around your head and it could be a deposit on a new superb waiting!

Sorry to hear this Chris.

Fingers crossed they write it off so you can buy a good one ;)

Seriously though, glad you're okay Chris. It could have been a lot worse.

Tell them "the suspension was fine before he hit me", however

Boo!

What did the bodyshop say, and the doctor? Everything okay?

Didn't get to doctors today lol, but I feel ok. I'll see how I am over the weekend. Bodyshop didn't say anything about the damage, howver I have found a crack that goes all the way along the middle of the bumper..its very small but it is 2 train track type lines, and you can feel it when rubbing your finger over it. I'd imagine new bumper!

I had exactly the same happen earlier this year. Got a new bumper out of it (the old one was already scratched on one corner  ) Think the total cost was around £600:eek: Glad I wasn't paying, but should have followed up with the injury claim - 12 sessions with an osteopath @ £32 !

How's the exhaust? Now a L&K bumper with the chrome exhaust would be a good replacement :D

Glad your OK.

Seriously though, I would visit the doctors, or make a note to the insurance companies (yours and the 3rd parties) that your neck was stiff/hurting after the accident. Back and neck issues can be caused 1 day and not reappear for several years later. Get it noted now just in case you have recurring trouble in several years. Im totally against making claims just for the point of it, so well done for not doing so. But, there are occasions when you just have to.

Regarding the car, the bumper may well just be cracked but it probably would of damaged the mounts underneath or even the structure. When I reversed into a bollard (god knows how) in my Xtrail at only 2 or 3 mph I did 1500 quids worth of damage. As well as a crack in the bumper the rear floor panal was creased and the bumper mounts were shot. The body shop said without repair, in the event of a similar rear end shunt, the car wouldnt be able to stand a second impact and behave totally different in crumpling.

So, the bodyshop, if a good one will be doing a good check on everything in that area.
