Hi all,

my name is Karl and I have spent some time browsing and researching using this brilliant forum, then jumped in with both feet and bought a 51 plate 4x4 1.8 20v Turbo - for work?:D justified it to myself over a passat TDi estate by going LPG...... plus the hatch swallowed everything from my old passat estate and still loads of room!!. and have you tried finding a 4x4 turbo estate? rocking horses and their byproducts come to mind... picked it up south of Bristol and drove it back to Bridgend (73 Miles) and got a repectable 37mpg with mixed driving (and playing) very happy;-) gave it to my local mechanic to make sure I hadn't bought a dog, only needs some pipework replaced and the obligitory DV(service indicator and a flat spot so was expecting it) approx £100 plus the labour. Gas conversion is not going to be cheap but will need it to make sure my overdraft doesn't match the UK's national debt..its scarry when you put the boot down and see the indicator drop to 15mpg

anyway glad to be here and happy to be enjoying my driving again. Only thing to worry about now is the wife pinching the keys all the time. keep up the great advice..

Welcome to Briskoda! Glad you've found this forum useful - hope you enjoy your new 'toy'!

All the best

Katie

Oddly enough they produced more 4x4 estates than hatches IIRC, only producing the 4x4 hatch for a year or so for the UK.

.its scarry when you put the boot down and see the indicator drop to 15mpg

Hello & welcome.

Now admit it you're not really trying there are you, I seem to be able to get mine down into single figures if I try really hard.:rofl:

Enjoy the driving, they are a great car, good sleeper for those who dont read the little badge on the boot;)

Hello and Welcome.

hi there!

my mum went slightly mad the other day and bought a 4x4 1.8 turbo herself! atfer years of plodding about in a ford i told her about the octy and she bought it the other day. loves it to bits, you'll have to let us know how much the conversion is in case the fuel gets much!

Ive had lpg on a Toyota Previa before - so know that "Gas is Good". the quotes Ive had so far were £1350+the dreaded VAT from MINT lpg as its a 4x4 (more work routing the pipes) and £1500+Tank+VAT from Phantom Fabrication (in fairness he does a vacuum and compression test before and after. and he removes the manifold for machining)

Hello and welcome :wavey:
