A tip to all Mk1 Fabia owners

Featured Replies

Every now and again, take the time to take off the two front wheel arch liners of your car. You'll be amazed at the amount of wet soil and sand type materials that collect behind the wheel arch and rub against the paintwork behind the wheel, and block up drainage holes.

and at the back too

and here was me expecting the tip to be:-

wash them in petrol and dry them with a match.

Hi Craig

There is no need to take your wheels off, although should you do that it could make your life a bit easier. Perhaps you could take your wheels off and give them a proper clean, and at the same time do the wheel arch liner thing.

You just need the same tool you use to undo the splash tray on the bottom of your engine. There are a fair few of the torx screws on the inside of the wheel arch liner (you may have to turn your wheels left and right to be able to access all of them, depending on which ones you're undoing). When they're all undone, the wheel arch liner should literally pull out. Refitting is just a reverse of removal. It can be fiddly but once you've got 1/2 screws in it's really easy. Remember to tighten all of the screws up! You wouldn't want one of them finding their way into your tyres. :)
