Error codes from diagnostics

Featured Replies

Hi

Just had the following codes back from our mechnic on our Fabia 1.4 Estate '02 64,000 miles:

1271 - step motor temp damper short circuit to poss or open

818 - evaporator temp sensor short circuit to poss or open

What does this mean and is it easy and inexpensive to fix? Do I have to take it to a Skoda dealer to do?

Thanks for any advice

M

Unfortunately it looks like your mechanic has used a generic code reader and the codes and descriptions it is coming back with are more than a little cryptic.

I'll have a guess at 1271 is P1271, this suggests a fault in the drive by wire system at the throttle pedal. Basically the position of the throttle pedal is sent to the engine ECU and the ECU then controls the throttle. What is the problem/symptoms with the cars running?

I'll take another guess on that the 818 is not engine related, but to with your air conditioning. It'll be likely that your air conditioning is not working, there is ap0gees guide on how to replace the evaporator outlet air temperature sensor here:

Officially it is a dashboard out job and would cost a lot in labour at a Skoda dealer, the sensor itself is around £20.

Are these live/persistent codes or intermittent possibly old non erased codes?
