I have VAG-COM 409.1 and a cable from eBay, it works fine on my Mk4 Golf and I can access all modules.

Just been trying to enable auto locking etc on my dad's Passat, and it seems that I can only access module 01 - engine and nothing else like 46, why could this be?

The Passat has CAN Bus diagnostics the Golf is K line. You can access 01 on the Passat as the engine electronics have to be OBD2 compatible.

Also the conv system is next gen running long coding so will diffeto the MK4 Golf.
