cambelt on a vrs

Featured Replies

hi everyone, i'm looking at buying a 52k 2004 vrs, the cambelt hasn't been changed, so i'm wondering am i best doing it straight away or at 60k, also what is the cost? Also when are minor and major services and whats the general cost? How much are parts in general for the car? I own a vauxhall at the moment so parts are cheap as chips! Thanks in advance, chris

Hi

I would personally do it straight away

4 yesrs or 60k I believe it to be

So best do it straight away

Save having problems later if the cam belt was to go

any idea's how much it would cost?

Not for the parts alone , sorry

We do the water pump at the same time too though , as these are common for failing too

So may be worth having a check to see if you can get them too

We replace with the metal impella`d one too as it is stronger

Bout a hundered quite for the belt, tentioner and aux belt.

I'd do the water pump aswell when you do it.

3.0 labour from a dealer.

Or do it youreslf.

Plus the three engine mounting bolts and the two chassis mounting bolts.

this an easy job then? I'm not mechanical minded in anyway! Would it take long to do?

I've been quoted £269 from my main dealer for cambelt change - the car is 4 years old in November so am gonna wait till then.

any idea's how much it would cost?

its around the 350 ish mark with the stealers doing it

Hi just had mine done. It is on 04. Belt £35 + £70 labour + VAT at independent garage. Wise to get it done and mine as only 24k on clock but Skoda advice is to replace at 4 years old hope this is helpful
