Brakes

Featured Replies

Hi All

New here so go easy.

8 year old Oct tdi 178,000miles on clock an the way to work today as I go around each roundabout the red brake indicator on the dash comes on and a number of beeps sound, goes off soon after until the next roundabout. Checked fluid level and was a little but no excessively low so topped up. I may be my mind playing tricks but reckon faint smell of fluid in cabin. No sign of oil leak around master cylinder. Still have occasional warnings can it be anything other than fluid level? I checked around drums etc to see if any leaks etc but none evident.

Great car have had since new and practically no problems.

Thanks for any advice.

Tony

Sounds like your handbrake switch is lose to me. Its on the back of the lever and only help on with a little plastic tag.

Ross is probably right if it's not the fluid level. I've driven cars where the light was signalling low fluid level, but only under hard braking or cornering, though.
