Headlamp masks

Featured Replies

Anyone got any idea as how to mask the headlamps for LHD countries.I used to do it on the Felly which was quite easy but since the Fabia's got clear headlamp lenses it's quite difficult to do.I managed to order a set of mask's directly from Skoda, they are made as genuine parts, but have no idea as how to fit them.

Thanks.

You bought proper LHD conversion masks from Skoda and there were no instructions?? That is not much good, are they branded Skoda aftersales parts? You might need to find a Lucas kit and see if your car is included in the fitting guide, or at least see if the "generic" light type you have is included. I had this problem with my 2000MY Passat just after I bought it and local VW dealer could not help me, so I phoned VW UK and they reffered me back to the dealer (who they would forward information to) they didn't - so I just safely guessed, just as well as I ended up driving in very heavy rain as soon as I got into France! On a lighter note, the Passat actually has internal "beam changers" - you just move a lever in the rear of the light units - so do quite a lot of other "foreign" cars - have you checked your driver's handbook and looked behind the rubber water shield on your lights?

No instructions, they were just wrapped in transparent plastick packing ans that's it.Will try and figure out how to fit them,if I won't find any clue I might as well leave them as they are...I'm just going to Sicily afterall...Malta is flooded with italian cars at the moment, italians spending midaugust holidays here in our islands, have yet to see one of their cars with masks...If they don't bother why should I ?.

Hum, wrt to foreigners that bothering, its the same here especially as far as French drivers are concerned - and usually no national marker either, strange when Jonny Frog grabs us if we try that trick. I like the idea of you going to Sicily when the Italians have filled Malta up. At first I thought "driving to Sicily" but I see you live in Malta so not so far!
