Additional CD player for Fabia

Featured Replies

I've just bought a 2001 Fabia, which has got the standard (I think) 202 cassette/radio unit fitted. Beneath this there is a 'cubby hole' with an open-fronted black plastic box in it. I've also got a 2001 Polo, which had a similar arrangement when I bought it - with the Polo, I was able to buy a CD player from the VW dealer which fitted in place of the cubby hole box thing, so that the cassette deck and CD player are both fitted.

Ideally I'd like to be able to fit a "manufacturer's" CD player alongside the existing tape deck in the same way that I did with the Polo. (Rather than have to remove the tape deck and fit a cd player using a din adapter plate). Does anyone know if there's a similar CD unit available for the Skoda ? A phone call to the dealer's parts department proved fruitless

I don't particularly want to get an CD changer, and it looks like the head unit won't drive one anyway.

Thanks in advance......

Unfortunately there is not a CD player that you can piggyback of the tape deck.

You can however replace the standard tape deck with the Skoda Symphony CD player (single slot) I have one of these in my car.

Some will say it's also worth upgrading this unit but I'm relatively happy with it and I want that OEM look, no flashy lights and a unit that's permanently fitted in the car. I am however looking at buying the Blaupunkt amp/sub combo unit that you can buy as an accessory from Skoda dealers. This runs directly from the standard CD player and should give a bit more punch to the sound whilst at the same time taking up very little boot space.

Thanks for the reply. I've got the Clarion CD player I removed from my last car which I could use, but as you say, the 'OEM' look is preferable.

Can you recall how much the Symphony cd player cost ?

Sorry I'm not sure how much the unit is. Give your local friendly Skoda dealership a bell I'm sure they'll give you a good price.

If you decide to go for this you might want to listen to one first, a dealership should have one in a demo car.

And if your local friendly Skoda dealership also fits ICE units, they may well have a leftover Symphony that they have taken out of another car - worth a haggle.

If you would like the Symphony, How about asking on this site if anyone who has swapped the head unit, If they would like to sell their virtually unused unit for a reasonable price ?

I've got a Symphony HU that I'm willing to sell, was only in the car a week. Make me a offer.
