Fabia steering stiff

Featured Replies

As the title says, our lasses 2001 tdi estate steering has started to go stiff, this happens when you try and turn quickly from the straight ahead possition, this only happens for an instant, and then is ok. Any body got any ideas before i start to panic?

cheers steve

when your driving along its ment to stop you being able to swerve big time but check the levels of power steering fluid (its in the ****est place known to man) get a funnel

Where mite that be? I popped the bonnet earlier and had a quick look, but didnt see a resevoir, so thought it mite be one of them electric systems

its down near one of the chassis legs. battery side i think.

as craig0031 says get a funnel, a long funnel.

Mine's doing this, mostly after a severe limited slip diff thrashing around a corner. Have yet to vagcom the car to see if it's the steering angle sensor to blame. I fear I may need a new pump as mine's now 7+ years old.

I've had that problem since the car was brand new, pump changed and everything. Kinda happens when you've made a continuous turn round a bend and then make a complete turn the opposite direction. Kinda scary when you're doin' 80km/h.
