20K Service

Featured Replies

£310.00

Includes inspection and brake fluid change. Does this sound right?

hi there mate that sounds really high by service was 160 from jbs plus 40 for brake fluid change which i did not have done at the time but it would have been 200 all in and does not void the warranty!!! shop around buddy

How old's the car, and/or is it 'the' 20k service or 'a' 20k service (i.e. is it actually at 40/60/80/100k)? Looks as though a cambelt change has been dropped in there - 4 years or 60k is the interval...

its a 2 yr old car with 20k total mileage.

Oil, brake fluid and inspection. Broke it down as 250 for the service plus 60 for the brake fluid change. Over 50 quid of which is laour.

sounds very expensive to me.

should be more like 200

"The" 20k service is IIRC oil , oil filter , pollon filter and then the brake fluid

To that it is expensive

Where is that?

Capitol?

I paid £206.25 with them for my 20k. £132 labour, £43.53 parts and £30.72 **** on 3/7/06 (I had had the car 9 months).

I think BF is every 2 years so it may include this which will add about £50-60 as you have said.

If your not happy with that I can recommend a few other places as you don't have to use the dealer (Isn't your warranty up now anyhow?)

warranty is up in october. i will also be getting my 2nd wheel bearing done just in time before the warranty runs out.

if you know anywhere cheaper please do tell...

I am getting quots for a 40K service and three year inspection. Skoda garage quotes £260 and specialist independents ie. stie sponsors will do it for £175.

its a no brainer, as long as they are VAT reg then warranty is fine

My local garage where i used to take my other cars are going to do it for just under £200.

Quite a difference. This includes oil, filter, cabin filter, inspection and brake fluid change. As i'm familiar with them i'll get them put in some dot 5.1 in instead.

For info, there's a very useful service schedule spreadsheet, available from Stu's Fabia website:

Fabia-vrs.com - Downloads

It does give you costs, which may well be out-of-date by now so I'd ignore those - but most helpful is the listing of what's included at each service.

Just got the service done. £171.00 (incl brake fluid change)

However, the oil they used was 5w-30 not 5w-40. When questioning this i was told that the 5w-30 oil exceeds the specification of the 5w-40 stuff.

Any comments?

Dunno about the oil, but I've just been quoted £179 (and a free ride to/from work) for this service, seems to match better ti what you actualy paid, rather than what you were originally quoted ;)
